Back in 1994 when I developed the first Fox Rifle, I always envisaged that there should be a range of products,
but I never thought that it would take so long, or that I would still be working on it in 2025
This is one of the original Fox PC1 Rifles produced in 1995 and still in use 30 years later.
The Fox rifle was revolutionary when it apeared as it not only had a new rotary breach, that was designed to offer a higher level of safety
than the ubiquitous bolt action system used by almost all other Air Rifle makers at that time,
but it had an unusual ergonomically designed stock, that gave shooters a big advantage when shooting freehand.
Both of these features are maintained in all Fox Rifles today.
The Fox Rifle was produced in response to the huge Rabit problem in Dorset at that time and Fox seamed like the right name for the task.
The idea was to produce something that could be easily and safely used to cull them humanely,
rather than the terrible poisons that caused so much suffering, often used when the situation got out of hand in other places.
Having a Rifle that could be easily and accurately used freehand at up to 60 yards range was a big advantage.
We always said that the effective humane range was the one at which you could hit a 20 pence coin reliably and the Fox rifle would do that with no problem.
The reason it has taken so long to develop this dynasty, is partly due to the original company closing in 1996 and whilst I was still designing and making a few PC1’s in between other things,
real progress was not made until GET-Designs.uk LTD was formed in 2015 and the designs were catalogued for sale.
The only picture of a Mk2 that we have, is on this unissued Flyer, produced in 2002 for the redesigned Rifle.
However, for comercial reasons it was never put into production and only two were ever made.
The Fox was always a hand-built rifle, and over the years seventy six PC1’s were built along with two Fox Mk2’s,
before development of the Mk3 started in 2019, and the first prototype produced early in 2020.
The original Rotary breach comprised of seven components, but the redesigned single piece breach was experimental on the Mk2’s, and upgraded for integration with the new boltless 8 shot magazine for the Mk3.
Whilst the Mk3, is based upon the PC1 it is a whole new rifle comprising of, a new fully adjustable duel handed stock, bigger tube assembly,
extruded body with integral Picatinny rail, upgraded hammer assembly and redesigned valve system with built in pressure indicator device.

Whilst at Get-Designs we normally only produce designs and prototypes, we decided early in 2020 to work with our production partners Mikina to produce 100 off, of these rifles.
However, as a direct result of the COVID issues this project was shelved at around the halfway stage.
At the time of writing this blog, that is how this project is likely to remain unless a purchaser can be found for it, as we are currently concentrating on design only.
At GET-Designs we are constantly designing and developing new rifles and component assemblies.
Mid 2024 a decision was taken to look at producing an updated version of our Paradigm rifle using a rotary breach and the left-over stocks from the Webley project.
However, after many hours of research it was going to be very difficult to achieve this within the Paradigm format and decided to look at the possibility of doing it as part of the Fox platform.
This turned out to be a much better option. By utilising some of the new technology we had developed over the last ten years,
such as the inline valve and improved trigger system, we could produce a full power, compact, Single Stroke Pneumatic Rifle in a Fox stock.
This new design was finished Christmas 2024.

Since we are constantly redesigning rifles, we did have in the pipeline an unfinished drawing for a pump-up Reservoir Fox rifle
and having discovered that the Fox Mk3 stock can be split to produce an adequate cocking leaver we decided to finish it.
This was done over the next few weeks and now we have a rifle that once pumped up from empty will have enough air on board for around 15 shots but then will only require 2 pumps per shot to replenish.
This multi–Stroke Rifle has similar features to the Fox Mk3 but with the addition of a forward mounted integral pump, a regulator and silencer module situated over pump and barrel end.

When designing the Fox 3, a bottle version was also produced but it too was never finished.
This has now been fully completed and is available for sale.
This rifle has all the features of the Fox Mk3 but the 100cc reservoir has been upgraded to 300cc with a Carbon Fibre Bottle which is refilled in situ using the adaptor provided.
The additional volume will give around 300 shots between refills.

We are often contacted by people who want a PCP rifle but don’t really want to have to use a diving bottle or pump.
Whilst a Single Stroke Pneumatic Rifle might do the job, they don’t want the effort involved in cocking it.
It was for this reason we developed the Fox Co2 Rifle.
The new Fox Co2 Rifle has all the features of the Fox Mk3 except for a modified valve unit to cope with Co2 gas,
plus a series of adaptors to enable one or two 12-gram Co2 capsules to be inserted into the power tube.
The use of One Co2 Capsule will give around 15 shots at just under 12 ft/lbs and two should enable 30 to be fired between refills.
If required, we could alter the power tube to enable up to 3 capsules to be inserted which would increase the nominal shot count to 45.
We use .22 and 11.5 ft/lbs of energy as the base for our calculation of shot count and for .177 it will be slightly lower.
Fox Scout Prototype Rifle
This is a one-off prototype Fox Scout Rifle produced for a customer just over 25 years ago.
He wanted a Rifle for shooting paper targets at 10 metres at his gun club.
This one runs on Co2 with a power level of just under 6 ft/lbs and regularly achieves over 60 shots from each 12-gram capsule.
This image is not good, but it is the only one we have of this rifle and it was an important feature in the Fox platform Development.

And this completes the Fox Rifle Dynasty.
I may be wrong but I do not know of any other company who have a range of rifles based on one platform that comprises,
a Tube Type PCP, a Bottle PCP, a Pump up Reservoir PCP, a Single Stroke Pneumatic Rifle and a Co2 Rifle all of which share many similar components and features.
Whilst We have the design and technology necessary to do this, I wonder if there is any Company out there, that has what it takes to make one, or more of them?
