The Webley Premier .22 Pistol Steel model was a popular spring-powered air pistol known for its robust construction and reliability.
It was positioned as a step up from the Webley Junior model, offering more power and a more substantial feel.
This .22 calibre Pistol was considered a good general-purpose weapon, suitable for target shooting and pest control at shorter ranges.
Over its production run, there were some minor variations in finish, grips, and sights.
The steel Premiers, particularly the earlier series (A-D), are often considered more desirable by collectors than later versions
or the subsequent alloy-framed Mk2.
Spares for Webley Premier pistols are generally still available, making them maintainable classic airguns.
Common parts that might need replacement include the mainspring, piston seal, and breech seal.
Here we have a mid-production run Premier Pistol, that does not appear to have had very much use
and it does not look like it has ever been dismantled.
However, whilst it is generally in excellent condition, structurally the blueing has suffered with age.
Mechanism: Spring-piston, break-barrel cocking.
The barrel is pulled down to cock the spring and expose the breech for loading a pellet.
Construction: Predominantly steel construction, making it feel solid and durable.
Grips: Brown plastic grips, with the "Webley" logo.
Sights: It is equipped with a blade foresight and an adjustable rear sight for elevation.
This one also has windage adjustment on the rear sight.
Trigger: Generally, a non-adjustable trigger, although some early "A" to "D" series models had a trigger adjustment screw.
The trigger pull could sometimes be described as long or "mushy".
Safety: No Safety catch. But this one does have a trigger adjustment screw.
Markings: Earlier models (Mk1) often had a letter series (A-F) stamped on the side of the frame above the trigger guard to indicate the production series.
This one has a “D” on it.
The production Era for the Mk1 production version spanned from 1964 to 1975.
