Original Model 50

The "Original" Model 50 air rifle was a popular and well-regarded air rifle,

especially in Europe, known for its quality and accuracy.

The Key Features were:

Manufacturer: DIANA Mayer & Grammelspacher GmbH & Co. KG

Location: Rastatt, Germany

History: Founded in 1890, they are one of the most well-known and respected names in airguns.

"Original" Branding: The reason the Model 50 was often branded "Original" is a bit of a story.

After World War II, the British company Millard Brothers (Milbro) acquired the rights to the "Diana" name in the UK.

So, Dianawerk used the "Original" brand for their airguns in the UK market to avoid confusion.

Type: Underlever cocking, spring-piston design.

Calibres: .177 (most common) and .22

Superb adjustable trigger.

Sights: Open sights (adjustable rear) and often came with a diopter sight. Could also be fitted with a telescopic sight.

Stock: Wood, typically beech, with a distinctive long design.

These Rifles were Produced from the 1950s to the 1980s.

Main characteristics were:

Accuracy: Generally known for good accuracy, especially with the .177 calibre.

Quality: High-quality materials and craftsmanship were used in its construction.

Power: Older models were around 10 ft/lbs, while later models (Type 01) were closer to the UK legal limit of 12 ft/lbs.

Trigger: The trigger is often praised for its smooth and light pull.

Stock: The long stock contributes to the rifle's balance and handling.

Variations:

Model 50E: A simpler, less expensive version made for the UK market.

Type 01: A later model with increased power and some design changes.

This is one of the sought after 01 higher powered models, the metalwork is in excellent condition and whilst the stock is good the varnish has seen better days and hence the price.
