BSA Cadet Major

The BSA Cadet Major is a classic British-made air rifle, popular for its quality and historical significance.

History and Production:

Manufacturer: Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA)

The Major is the larger of the two BSA Cadet Air Rifles, having a longer compression chamber and overall length than the standard Cadet model.

Production Period: 1946 - 1959 (following the Cadet model introduced in 1945)

Estimated Production: Approximately 116,900 units.

Technical Specifications:

    Caliber: .177 (most common)

    Mechanism: Break-barrel, spring-piston design.

Barrel: Rifled (some rare smoothbore models exist)

Stock: Wood (various types and styles were used) but this one is Beach.

Sights: Fixed Fore Sight and Adjustable rear.

Weight: Approximately 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs)

    Overall Length: Approximately 42 inches.

Features and Characteristics:

Classic Design: The Cadet Major has a traditional sporter stock design.

Reliable Action: The break-barrel mechanism is known for its simplicity and durability.

Accuracy: Generally considered accurate for its type, suitable for target shooting plinking and small pest control.

Collectability: The BSA Cadet Major is a popular collector's item, especially those in good condition with original features such as this one has.

The blueing on this rifle, is in almost as new condition and the original printing on the top of the chamber is still clearly visible.

The Beach stock is in good condition with only a few minor marks which I suppose is not bad for a rifle made between 1949 and 1955 as the serial number has a CA prefix.

The rifle cocks very smoothly which was one of the features of a rifle of this quality and fires as it should.
